Ashton Kutcher Accepts the Role as Steve Jobs in New Indie Film.

Ashton Kutcher has been tapped to play Steve Jobs in an independent film called “Jobs”.   The script is being written by Matt Whiteley (I have no idea what he has done, or where he came from) and directed by Joshua Michael Stern who directed Swing Vote.

The film will be a biography of Jobs life, from the hippie day to Pixar and all the way to the iPad.  They will film the project starting in May when Ashton is on break from “Two and A Half Men”.

This project is not to be confused with the Sony version.  Sony Pictures is currently developing its own Steve Jobs pic, based on the bestselling book by Walter Isaacson.  Back in October last year they acquired the exclusive rights to produce the film based on the book, which is the only official authorized biography.

Jobs life was also depicted in a small TV docudrama called “Pirates of Silicon Valley.”

Ashton Kutcher might not have been my first choice, but after the news broke, I guess he does sort of look like Jobs.

I wonder if news of an A-list celebrity staring in the independent version of a jobs biography will put the rush on Sony?
