Why Ronn Moss Left Bold and Beautiful and the shows Plans for Ridge Forrester
Ronn Moss dropped a bomb on everyone this week as he announced that after 25 years he’s done with “Bold and the Beautiful”.
The original thought was that Moss leaving the show meant that his character Ridge Forrester, who is an integral to the shows plot, will also be no more. We have since learned that is not true. Moss’ exit announcement was abrupt and his exit from the show will be even quicker. His final episode has already been filmed and will air on Friday Sept. 14th.
Bradley bell, “Bolds” executive producer says they will not kill Ridge, but instead he will just disappear after his honeymoon with Brooke (Logan). He then basically says, that Ridge will return, but very possibly played by a different actor. Bell explains,
“There will be a period of time without Ridge, But at some point it will be necessary for Ridge to return to the show. Who will be playing the role at that point remains to be seen.”
Speculation to exactly why Moss left the show has been running wild. The actor left a message on Facebook to say good bye to fans in his own words, but left very little explanation,
“I want to make sure, without any doubt, that you guys all know how much I love you. Your support during this time and hopefully beyond is everything. I can’t say anything yet, but soon will explain… Try and not be sad, angry, disappointed.. It’s been a great run and all good things end eventually. As this door closes, others are opening.”
He then had an exclusive with Entertainment Weekly to provide fans with more details, launching into further explanation to why he left. He explained that there were signs, one being the car accident that he and his wife were recently involved in. The other he explains as a clock in his dressing room stopping at exactly 9:42 AM which is the same time he was born, thus signifying a new beginning. He also discloses that salary was indeed a factor as well.
To say losing Moss is a blow is understating the obvious, how big of a blow only time will tell. The genre’ of “soap opera” has slowly been dying off with only four remaining on network television. “Bold” has been one that has not faltered in ratings, I wonder if Moss leaving will change any of that. For now fans are intrigued how the story line will play out. That should keep ratings steady for now or at least until Sept 14th.
