J.J. Abrams On Deck to Direct Next ‘Star Wars’ Film

Website “The Wrap” appears to be pretty dang sure that J.J. Abrams will be directing the next, now Disney owned “Star Wars” film.   In prior interviews Abrams said the he would not be directing Star Wars if asked, but he did say that he was more of a Star Wars fan then a Trekky.

I’m sure when he was a kid he never imagined that he would be controlling both Star Worlds!  Wars and Trek.  He told EW,

As a kid I was always a fan of special effects.  Watching movies I was constantly trying to figure out how they did it, whatever the effect was. Star Wars was the first movie that blew my mind in that way; it didn’t matter how they did any of it because it was all so overwhelmingly and entirely great. It was funny and romantic and scary and compelling and the visual effects just served the characters and story. It galvanized for me; not for what was exciting about how movies were made, but rather for what movies were capable of.”

That sounds to me like a guy who would love the job.

There has been no official comment from Lucasfilm yet but if this is true Abrams in for quite a busy year.  He is now currently knee deep in the heavily awaited “Star Trek” sequel following his successful 2009 reboot.  The Star Wars job would require him to jump right into Star Wars as Disney is teasing fans saying that the next installment of the franchise would be 2015.

With television hits like “Lost”, “Alias”, and movie hits like Mission: Impossible III, and Star Trek, Abrams is more than qualified to the task at hand.  Of course there will be millions of people who think otherwise.  Haters Gonna Hate.
