The Memorial Day weekend event is going to be something to remember. With D’angelo headlining, Sinbad leading the comedy brigade and Ne-Yo closing the show to end the weekend it’s going to be one of those events of a lifetime.
D’angelo shocked the world last year by making an appearance with Quest love and then did his thing down at the Essence Music Festival in new Orleans.
You don’t believe me…watch for yourself.
His appearances with Quest love at Bonnaroo and at the EMF in New Orleans were his first US performances in 12 years.
WELL WHAT ABOUT A D’ANGELO ALBUM?
Questlove had the inside scoop on that. Or so he thought he did. During an interview with Billboard, Quest says that D’angleo is 99 percent done with what would be his third album. He claims the album is going to be a “beast”. Questlove told Billboard
“I would not be far off by saying this is probably my generation’s version of Sly [and the Family Stone's] There’s a Riot Goin’ On, It’s potent. It’s funky. It’s an extremely hard pill to swallow.”
That was in January and that also was the last we heard about the project. D’angelo hasn’t released anything since his 2000 hit Voodoo. Count ‘em up. That was 13 freakin years ago.
If you are wondering if the boy still has money, he does. His net worth is estimated at a cool $2 million. His two albums Brown Sugar and Voodoo plus his infamous world tour which included dancers, acrobats and full production netted D’angelo enough cheese to take off 10 years and still have $2 Million in the bank.
With his cheddar on low, I guess he figures it’s time to do it all over again. I think the ladies are ready for a comeback. In case you aren’t let me refresh your “mammories”. I mean….memories. How does this feel?
