MTV’s ‘Buckwild’ Star Shain Gandee Dead

Just hours after police sent out a missing persons report for Shain, the search came to a horribly tragic end. The 21-year-old MTV star was found dead along with his Uncle David Gandee and one other person. They were all found dead inside Shane’s 1984 Bronco that appeared to get stuck in the mud sometime in the middle of the night. According to police, Shane and his uncle were last seen around 3am March 31. They were reported missing by family members the following morning when no one had heard or seen them since. Shane reportedly told people the night before that he and his uncle were going to go out four wheeling.

Shane and his uncle weren’t seen again until yesterday when a guy on a four wheeler spotted their dead bodies in the truck. When police arrived on the scene they found the 1984 Bronco covered in mud, the photos of the truck seem to suggest the mud was all the way up past the windows. The only way authorities could reach the truck was on all-terrain vehicles. It actually took some time before police could even remove the bodies because of the remote location the truck was in.

There is speculation that the three guys died of carbon monoxide poisoning. Normally, that is not something you have to worry about out in the open. However, it looks like the truck’s exhaust pipe was covered in mud, which would force the harmful air back in the car. There was no cell phone service where they were found, so calling for help was probably not an option. Shain and his uncle also had been drinking that night, so they could have just decided to sleep it off and worry about getting the truck out in the morning. Sadly, they never did wake up. Police will not confirm or deny the speculation, but it certainly looks like the mostly like scenario.

MTV has released a statement on the tragic accident,

“We are shocked and saddened by the terrible news about Shain Gandee, and those involved in this tragic accident. We are waiting for more information but at this time, our main concern is for the Gandee family and their friends. Our thoughts and prayers are with them. Shain had a magnetic personality, with a passion for life that touched everyone he met and we will miss him dearly.”

Shain’s family is reaching out to the local community in an effort to help raise money for funeral expenses. Family members are currently planning a “mud run” to raise the money. They will charge $10 for each vehicle and 100% will go to help the family, they’ll also be accepting donations.
