Brad Pitt Keeps it Real in Esquire Interview

Almost every dude has wanted to be Brad Pitt at some point in their life. To have his good looks, his money, Angelina Jolie and the fame. His life seems so different compared to us regular folk, but he might not be all that different from the of rest of us after all. The 49-year-old actor opened up in an interview with Esquire magazine and he revealed that his life hasn’t always been as awesome as it is now. Life might be somewhat easy for the superstar now, but he’s made a few mistakes along the way.

During the interview, he revealed that he was/is his own worst enemy. He talked about how he was just one little paper away from earning a college degree.  He told the magazine,

“I’d get so far and then want to do something else. I mean, I’m two credits short of graduating college. Two credits. All I had to was write a paper. What kind of guy is that? That scares me — the guy who always leaves a little on his plate.”

It’s clear that decision still haunts him to this day. You can have all the success in the world, but sometimes all you can think about is how many times you failed.

Pitt also talks a little about his drug use

“For a long time I thought I did too much damage — drug damage. I was a bit of a drifter. A guy who felt he grew up in something of a vacuum and wanted to see things, wanted to be inspired. I followed that other thing. I spent years f–king off. But then I got burnt out and felt that I was wasting my opportunity. It was a conscious change. This was about a decade ago. I t was an epiphany — a decision not to squander my opportunities. It was a feeling of get up. Because otherwise, what’s the point?”

Brad certainly makes it clear that he has a lot of skeletons in his closet, but he also makes it clear that he has finally found happiness in life. He might not have a lot of friends, but it’s his family that really matters to the actor.

“I have very few friends. I have a handful of close friends and I have my family and I haven’t known life to be any happier. I’m making things. I just haven’t known life to be any happier.”

Good for him! It sounds like he has finally grown up. There are a lot of things out there in life that will promise you happiness for a short amount of time, but only the joy you get from love and family lasts forever. All that other stuff is just temporary.
