Oh, internet. I turn my back on you for one minute and you manage to make thousands of people believe that Steve Irwin’s daughter died.
Bindi, the 14-year-old daughter of the late Steve Irwin was a victim of another online death hoax. Of course, the rumor first was spread on Twitter late Friday. The horrible rumor even made it to the trending topics and you know when something is trending on Twitter, it must be true! The rumor was aided by a glitch in search engines that were connecting the whole thing back to her dad’s death.
I’m not exactly sure how it all happened, but apparently the amount of people searching for information on Bindi had been on the raise recently because of her new movie, “Return to Nim’s Island.” And somehow the search engines were just throwing out a bunch of old stories that were written about her following her dad’s death in 2006. In the end, the rumor on Twitter, combined with the faulty search engines created the trending search term, “Steve Irwin’s daughter dies.”
But, don’t worry! It was all just one big misunderstanding. The 14-year-old is alive and well. Just last week she posted the picture you see down below.
You see? You can’t post photos of things written in sand if you’re dead! You know, the death hoax has probably ended up being a good thing for Bindi. It sure is getting her movie a lot of attention!
