‘Prison Break’ Star Turns Down Trip To Russia, Reveals He’s Gay

Actor Wentworth Miller best known for his role on Fox’s ‘Prison Break’ has officially came out of his bedazzled closet.

The 41-year-old actor (yes he’s really 41) decided it was time to come out after being invited to attend the St. Petersburg International Film Festival in Russia. Miller wrote the following letter to the director of the festival,

“Thank you for your kind invitation. As someone who has enjoyed visiting Russia in the past and can also claim a degree of Russian ancestry, it would make me happy to say yes. However, as a gay man, I must decline.

I am deeply troubled by the current attitude toward and treatment of gay men and women by the Russian government. The situation is in no way acceptable, and I cannot in good conscience participate in a celebratory occasion hosted by a country where people like myself are being systematically denied their basic right to live and love openly.”

Obviously this letter is referring to Russia’s new controversial anti-gay laws, which they hope will help promote traditional Russian values over the liberalism of the Western culture.

A spokesman for GLAAD applauded Miller’s braveness and decision to turn down the invite,

“As people from across the globe continue to speak out against this horrific law, more celebrities and corporations should follow his courageous lead in openly condemning Russia’s anti-LGBT law.”

I know the main story is about him coming out as a gay man, but I can’t be the only one surprised to find out that this dude is 41-years-old. I thought he was just pushing 30! Maybe I should look into this whole being gay thing, it seems like it does wonders for the skin.
