This week we got a rare look at “Big Man” Vin Diesel’s family. Monday, he received his star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
The 46 year old showed up with his rarely seen girlfriend Paloma Jiminez, his daughter and their son. He even brought his mom and dad to watch as he granted the 2,504th star. We rarely hear much about Vin Diesel’s personal life and that is no mistake. He takes pride in keeping his private life private. He says,
I’m not gonna put it out there on a magazine cover like some other actors. I come from the Harrison Ford, Marlon Brando, Robert De Niro, Al Pacino code of silence.
There was no hiding this Monday as he and his family were he center of attention.[more...]
For many of us it seems like Vin has always been a star since his first role in “Saving Private Ryan”, but for me personally that is not true. Vin Diesel actually used to be a bouncer at The Tunnel night club, a place where I used to go back in the 90’s. In 1990 he tried his hand at Hollywood and when it didn’t work out he moved back to New York and put his muscles to use bouncing.
Vin didn’t give up and produced a short film called “Multi-Facial” about a mixed race guy that was having trouble finding work as an actor because his race was not easily identifiable. Sound familiar?
This movie got him invited to Cannes where he was able to get noticed by Spielberg who cast him in “Saving Private Ryan”. This ignited his career and he rest as they say is history.
Diesel remains a big box office draw as Riddick hits theaters this week and he has three films lined up in pre-production now — “Kojak,” “The Last Witch Hunter” and “The Machine” — plus a seventh “Fast”
Diesel is worth and estimated $44 Million, a long way from bouncing at “The Tunnel”.
And now….Vin Diesel’s real first Movie!!! Watch at 1:55 seconds and watch him close the show at 3:36 seconds.
