The Situation Talks About His Drug Addiction

You may remember hearing about Mike ‘The Situation’ Sorrentino’s rumored drug addiction awhile back. There were reports claiming the Jersey Shore star was addicted to drugs and alcohol, but Mike and his reps denied those reports at the time.

And he’s still denying those specific reports, but he did recently admit that he had prescription drug addiction. In an interview with The Associated Press, The Situation opened up about his drug problem and explained the moment when he realized he needed help.

He claims that while he was on a trip to Australia back in 2012, he ran out of his prescription that he had been taking to treat an injury he suffered while on DWTS,

“All I had to do was get dressed for a family function and I couldn’t do that. The shirt was laid out, the, the pants, everything. The shower was on. I couldn’t even get out of bed.

If I can’t do that how am I going to continue?”

After the trip, Mike checked himself into rehab where doctors at the facility treated him with a medication to treat opioid addiction. He says that he still takes the medication daily and claims that the medication combined with counseling seems to be working for him.

Mike also talked about how he’s hoping to make a return to the entertainment world. He doesn’t have anything set up just yet, but he hopes to have some big announcements sometime soon,

“The roller coaster of fame and fortune is definitely a ride in itself but to get to recovery is something special…There is hope out there and you can get help.”

Well, good for him! It certainly seems like he is finally growing up. However, I do wonder if it’s smart to treat a prescription drug addiction with more prescriptions? It seems like they just replaced his addiction with a new pill.

I’m not a doctor, though. I’ll just continue to write about celebrities and pretend to know what I am talking about.
