Small Wedding Dress Beyonce in ohio

Beyonce’s Lyric Change to “Resentment” Further Fuels Rumors of a Cheating Jay-Z

For the record I’m not buying into all the hype…..just yet.  Jay-Z and Beyonce are marketing geniuses, not to mention they are both notoriously private.  Let’s not forget Hov sold 1 million albums before releasing Magna Carta and Bey produced an entire album including videos without anyone the world knowing, until she was ready. Between the two they are capable of anything.

Combine that along with everyone waiting for a juicy, high profile breakup and you have instant drama.  Which brings us to the lyrical shake up that has everyone calling Jay a cheater….

BEYONCE DEFINITELY CHANGED THE LYRICS

During her show in Ohio on Saturday, concert goers noticed that the song “Resentment” was slightly different.  An attendee posted video footage of the song on Youtube and the Daily Mirror was the first media outlet to report on the change.

ORIGINAL LYRICS:
I’ll always remember feeling like I was no good / Like I couldn’t do it for you like your mistress could [more…]

Been ridin’ with you for six years […] I gotta look at her in her eyes and see she’s had half of me.

NEW LYRICS:

I’ll always remember feeling like I was no good / Like I couldn’t do it for you like that wack bitch could

Been ridin’ with you for twelve years […] I gotta look at her in her eyes and see she’s had half of me. She ain’t even half of me. That bitch will never be.

WHY ARE WE ALL OVER REACTING?

Simply because we like Drama.  We sooo want this to coincide with the Solange elevator beat down.  We want closure to that mystery so bad; because we always want closure.  We want juicy gossip about Jay cheating with Rachel Roy.  We want Wendy William’s rhetoric on the entire thing to be right….because it’s juicy.  Love and Hip Hop meet real life.

IN CASE YOU MISSED IT…WENDY’S TAKE ON THE ELEVATOR BEAT DOWN

IT’S JUST SHOW BIZ FOLKS

Back when the original song was released in 2006 on the B’Day album, the couple had been dating for four years, so it matched. They weren’t the power couple they are now so there was no speculation of cheating.  Now,  here we are 8 years later, she is performing with her husband on a super successful tour and she is doing it in a wedding dress.  Musicians are like actors, they need to feel their music and she just happened to make the lines slightly more relate-able.  Nothing more, nothing less.  She is acting out the song…hence the wedding dress.

We take music waaaay to far.

If an actor kills someone in a movie, we don’t run off saying he or she is a killer, but we do, do that for music…and only when it fits our need for drama.

Not to mention, Jay and Bey know this, and we (blogs, newspaper, social media) played right into their hands.  More free advertisement.

Well done Jay. Well Played.
