PewDiePie’s Apology is not an Apology. He Cleverly Lashes Out at the Media After Wall Street Journal Story Terminates His Huge Disney deal. We are rocking with Pew!! (Videos)

The Wall Street Journal posted a story about PewDieie where they say that he is basically anti-sematic.  They cite 9 examples where Pew makes, what they call anti-semantic remarks.  I remember reading the headlines and thinking things like,  “Welp, they got him”.  “That’s what he gets”.  “All good things must come to an en”.  The guy is clearing over $7 million dollars per year!

Then I remember all the Pew Die Pie videos I’ve seen in the past, and this dude does not come across as a racist.  Furthermore, if you do anything on Youtube, you are privy to the most racist comments in the world and I’ve never seen Pew in support of anything remotely racist.  In fact one of his vides pokes fun of him being called a racist and that’s one that was used to discredit him.

As a result of the Wall Street Journal piece, Disney pulled the show that they have been working on with Pew Die Pie, and Youtube removed two of his videos and reportedly dropped him from a premium advertiser program.  They are directly messing up his paper!!

The Disney deal was huge. It involved Pew as well as other Youtubers and about 100 other people who worked on the nearly completed project.

This is an exercise in how things are taken out of contest.  It’s also reinforces the statement that nobody cares about you until you are successful.

Because you have to subscribe to the Wall Street Journal to get the story, I was pushed to Youtube to see if they had a video.  They did, and it does very little to show the full intention of the videos that Pew was posting.  With clever editing it looks like Pew is having a blast at anti-Semitism in general.  Not that he is highlight how scummy people will do anything for $5.00 on fiverr.com or how crazy it is for him to be labeled a racist.

Here is the Wall Street Journal Video

Pew took to his tumblr and wrote the following in response.  HE DOESN’T APOLOGIZE HERE, HE CLARIFIESS

This originated from a video I made a couple of weeks ago. I was trying to show how crazy the modern world is, specifically some of the services available online. I picked something that seemed absurd to me—That people on Fiverr would say anything for 5 dollars.

I think it’s important to say something and I want to make one thing clear: I am in no way supporting any kind of hateful attitudes.

I make videos for my audience. I think of the content that I create as entertainment, and not a place for any serious political commentary. I know my audience understand that and that is why they come to my channel.  Though this was not my intention, I understand that these jokes were ultimately offensive.

As laughable as it is to believe that I might actually endorse these people, to anyone unsure on my standpoint regarding hate-based groups: No, I don’t support these people in any way.

Then  he took a more harsh stance against the media and created a video apology…sort of.

The ironic thing here is that Pew’s video has 9 million views and the Wall Street Journal’s has just 450,000.  That shows how powerful Pew’s presence really is.

I’m sure if Pew wanted to stage a Disney boycott he could, but I think like we do, that Disney will review and retract their previous ruling and continue to do business with Pew in some way shape or from.

I know many times bloggers are considered “the Media”, but personally I call a spade a spade, and if I sat in isolation and watched these videos, I don’t even think he pushed things too far. I think he made a few jokes that involved racist statements but not in support of them, but almost how crazy they are.

We are riding with Pew on this one.
