Cam Newton Issues a Sincere Apology While Offended Reporter Issues A WHACK Apology for Her Racially Insensitive Historical Tweets

Obviously I’m not sure if Cam Newton’s apology is really sincere or not however we do know a few things about Cam:

  1. From the first mistake, we all know that he isn’t the best public speaker.
  2. The apology itself came across very sincere and it didn’t look like he was reading from a teleprompter or notes although he probably was.

QUICK RECAP:

As we posted yesterday, Cam made some sexist comments during his post-game interview towards reporter Jourdan Rodrigue.  Here is the clip.

She was offended, took to twitter and lashed out.

She allegedly approached Cam and he did not apologize, which angered her more (at this point Cam is still not caring).  Then the issue began to affect Cams pockets.  Now he cares.

Although rumor has I that Dannon dropped him, a spokesperson for the company said that they will keep him under contract without suing him.  However they have pulled all of their existing advertising that involves Newton.

In a statement to the press, Dannon’s spokesperson said that they are:

“shocked and disheartened at the behavior and comments of Cam Newton towards [Charlotte Observer reporter] Jourdan Rodrigue, which we perceive as sexist and disparaging to all women.

“It is entirely inconsistent with our commitment to fostering equality and inclusion in every workplace. It’s simply not OK to belittle anyone based on gender. We have shared our concerns with Cam and will no longer work with him.”

It was time for Cam to apologize and he did.

CAM FANS WANT REVENGE

Cam fans then decided to see just how holier than thou Jourdan was and stumbled on to some tweets she sent out back in 2012 and 2013.  Racially insensitive tweets to say the least:

She was then forced to issue her own apology.

Almost a good apology.  She didn’t offer any excuse, took ownership and said sorry.  However, where she screwed up was referring to the date.  Almost as if to say, that was so long ago, it was ok to be racist back then.

THE TRUTH

If I were Jourdan, I would have let that entire issue go.  She is in a unique position where she has access to the Panther’s and Cam’s comments were borderline.  While it might appear she took on the big football player, she ended up burning herself in the end.  Even if Cam lost the Dannon sponsorship, there are 10 more lined up waiting to sign him and all he has to do Sunday and next Sunday and the Sunday after that is win, and we will forget all about these non-issues.

As for Jourdan, who is a news reporter and not a football player, her racist tweets, and half-ass apology will now haunt her forever.  (Personally I consider her careless, insensitive but probably not racist)
