Nelly Speaks Regarding Rape Accusations, Claims His Innocence But Admits to Doing Something Not too Smart.

As you probably heard by now, Nelly has been allegedly arrested on rape charges. The arrest happened in Washington on his tour bus.  The woman says that she was raped in his tour bus at 3:45 AM Saturday and Nelly was arrested at 6:39 AM by Auburn Police.

Nelly’s real name is Cornell Iral Haynes jr.  Auburn PD say that he met a woman in Seattle after his show and brought her back to the bus.  What happened next is what we are all wondering, but we do know that the police found enough probable cause to arrest him the 42 year old rapper.

Nelly’s lawyer put out the traditional statement,

“Our initial investigation, clearly establishes, this allegation is devoid of credibility and is motivated by greed and vindictiveness. I am confident, once this scurrilous accusation is thoroughly investigated, there will be no charges. Nelly is prepared to address and pursue all legal avenues to redress any damage caused by this clearly false allegation.”

SIDE NOTE: I had to break out the Websters on this.  Scurrilous  – making or spreading scandalous claims about someone with the intention of damaging their reputation.

NELLY SPEAKS OUT VIA TWITTER

Nelly sent out the following tweets.  Read them and see if you read what I read?

“I want to apologize to my loved ones for the embarrassment and for putting myself in a situation where I could be victimized by this false and defaming allegation”.

This right there.  That leads me to believe one of three things: Either Nelly slept with the girl or his homies smashed or both.  If there was no sexual contact involved, then that tweet would have been left out as there would have been no “situation”.

Am I reading into this? Yes.  That’s my job, and the prosecutor will be doing the same thing.  I’m surprised Nelly’s attorney let him keep those tweets up, which means they are probably confident in their innocence.  I hope so.  I’m sure we’ll know and hear more on Monday.  We’ll keep you posted.
