G. I. Joe: Retaliation – Watch Storm Shadow & Snake Eyes Do Battle, Awesome. [video]
If you are not excited yet about GI Joe 2 Retaliation, how about a movie clip to get you out of your seat? How about a movie clip that features ninjas? How about a movie clip that features two ninjas named Storm Shadow and Snake Eyes?
After the original script for Joe tested bad, the movie theater decided to delay the release date 9 months so that the script can be worked. Without giving too much away, Channing Tatum’s out break success in Magic Mike had an awkward effect on this Joe film. He was not a big enough presence in the movie and viewers were not happy. In fact he didn’t even make it to the first movie posters. The results were so bad in fact, the studio made the hard decision to rework the script and listen to the screeners. (Why have screeners if you don’t listen to them right? )
Instead of admitting they had a potential, high dollar rotten egg on their hands, the movie studio said the cause of the delay was converting the movie to 3D. With a budget rumored at $125 million, you bet it was a big decision for everyone involved to carry the cost of that another 9 months. Now they are more than ready to recoup and profit.
If the movie is half as good as the trailers and this clip below, they should have nothing to worry about. GI Joe 2 hits theaters this month on March 28th.
Channing Tatum In all His Tatum-ness Hit the Caribbean for the Holidays!
Channing Tatum, looking a little sun-burned and a little chunkier then he did in Magic Mike, hit the Caribbean with his pregnant wife for the holidays. As you can imagine, he was still a hit with the ladies and fans.

Paramount Pushes the Release of GI Joe back Just Weeks Before it June 29th Release Date!
This might be the first time in history that a movie this close to release has been kicked out 9 months. Paramount “says” that the June 29th release of GI Joe is being pushed out nine months so that they can add 3D. The studio stated,
“We’re going to do a conscientious 3D job because we’ve seen how it can better box office internationally,
Jim Cameron did all of Titanic‘s 3D in post — and look how well that movie turned out.”
There are some decent reasons, I guess, for the decision. The most compelling reason is the big buzz of 3D overseas. As still one of the most exportable industries, it does make sense to cater to overseas markets especially if the movie sort of kinda sucks. Overseas movies that get released before they hit the US market can do extremely well there before they realize that the movie actually stinks, i.e. Battleship. They don’t know any better, they see big name stars and explosions and they pay for it. Russia and China are building 3D theaters by the week so this makes sense. Now it is actually possible to break even overseas before the movie is even released in the states.
Paramount also has had some success with delays in the past. Their decision to delay Shutter Island ended up being director Martin Scorsese’s biggest box office take ever.
WHAT THE PEOPLE SAY
Me like most people don’t totally buy into the theory. They would have made this call long before they started spending money on TV and outdoor ads. I think part of the change is because of Channing Tatum and Magic Mike. Paramount probably took note to all the buzz that Tatum has created and figured a way to introduce him more into the movie. His face is now more prevalent on the movie poster and his name is now before the Rock and Bruce Willis.
The other big reason is that you don’t want to be in a “Spiderman” and “Dark Knight” competition after watching “The Avengers” just smash the box office. It’s safe to say at this point that everyone who would see GI Joe has seen The Avengers. Those same people would also see “Spiderman” and “The Dark Knight” why take a chance on such a big film by entering in the mix. Because all those films are being so tightly released only a % of those movie goers would hit all four.
Third I think the 3D factor does play a small part. While watching “The Avengers” in 3D we saw the extended “Dark Knight” rises trailer. Although it was shot for IMAX I think a 3D option would have been a nice to have. Mission Impossible showed what IMAX filming could do, but the 3D in The Avengers was a nice to have.
The only thing that is certain, is that us armchair critics can sit here all day long and speculate that the movie probably tested bad and had to be reshot, or their scared of competition, whatever the reason might be, rest assured that a lot of time and expertise went into making it. I just hope it’s better than the first one. Marlon Wayans…SMH!

Joey Lawrence to Headline Vegas for 3 Weeks, TV Star To Peform with Chippendales.
I guess we all have to pay the bills, but dayumm! Really?
Joey Lawrence will be stripping down and rocking a bow tie. He will be part of the legendary Chippendales performing a show in Vegas. It will run at the Rio from June 7 to Jun 24th.
IT’S ACTUALLY A RESPECTFUL GIG
Actually it’s a lot more tasteful then it appears. It’s an attempt to capitalize on the release of “Magic Mike” ,the male revue moving starring Channing Tatum, Alex Pettyfer, Joe Manganiello and Matt Momer.
It’s not clear if he will really be stripping down to his draws, but he will actually be hosting the show for the three weeks. Kevin Denberg who is one of the managing partners of Chippendales expressed his excitement,
“We are thrilled to have someone as talented as Joey joining our show this summer — he’s a true triple-threat,”
“With the combination of our award-winning show and the forthcoming ‘Magic Mike,’ the male revue is making its way back into the mainstream, and we expect the addition of Joey to drive even more excitement to the industry.”
Recently Jersey Shore’s Ronnie and Jake from “The Bachelor” also did the hosting gig. No reports yet as to what Joey will be paid, that is assuming he gets a base salary on top of the dollar bills. Do Women make it rain?

GI Joe2: Retaliation Super Bowl Trailer Released – Bruce Willis, The Rock & Jay-Z, Say No More [video]

It’s only 30 seconds, but it’s enough to see that G.I. Joe 2 is going to be a much better film then the first. I’m embarrassed to say that I didn’t even know that Dwayne Johnson and Bruce Willis were in this. In the brief 30 second spot you can see that Channing Tatum and Ray park are back as Duke and Snake Eyes. Willis will play General Joseph B. Colton and the RZA (form the Wu Tang Clan) will be Blind Master. With all that being said, we have to wait until June 29th for the release. Dayum.
Enjoy the trailer

The New “21 Jump Street” Trailer Released – Action or Comedy? [video]?
I think real “21 Jump Street” fans will be disappointed with this. This is way more comedy then drama or action. It’s part the fault of the script and part the two people playing the leads: Jonah Hill and Channing Tatum.
Ideally you would want a “Bad Boys” type of feel or “Rush Hour”. Those are cop movies that are action first, and comedy 2nd. Very hard to pull off but extremely rewarding at the box office. It looks amusing, and it’s nice to see Ice Cube, but it certainly doesn’t have me jumping online to get my movie tickets.
You be the judge.
