MTV’s Buckwild Premiere Beats the Jersey Shore’s 2009 Debut by More than 1 Million Viewers.
I told you that the MTV producers were on to something and if ratings are any indication, they have another low cost hit on their hands.
Buckwild, after some controversy aired Friday night to 2.49 million viewers, that is more than a million more viewers than the Jersey Shore pulled in their premiere. During the Jersey Shore’s debut in 2009, 1.375 viewers were watching.
Before you start thinking spin offs, products and red carpet appearances for these teens, to be fair to the Jersey Shore crew, their premiere was before Snooki got punched in the face. That was the punch heard around the world. At Jersey Shore’s peak, they were pulling in 10 Million an episode, so the Bukwild crew has a long way to go.
With the last episode of the Jersey Shore being in the books we can officially say good bye to that crew and start to getting used to some new names: Shain, Anna, Ashley, Shie, Joey, Cara, Tyler, Katie, and Salwa. Yes….Salwa.
As the Honey Boo Boo trend continues, Buckwild and Sissonville, West Virginia fit right it. Reality TV is trending towards less classy and more country, which results in very low production costs for TV.
I’m not sure if Buckwild will ever hit 10 million an episode but MTV would probably have their money’s worth if they can double those numbers which doesn’t seem like too much of a stretch as long as the gossip blogs keep talking about the show.

Snooki’s New Tattoo. Its Ugly But She Insists it has Meaning.
This is Snooki’s sixth tattoo which she describes as a “fierce leopard”. Umm…..no so much.
Before you bash me for judging and say who cares….remember…this is a gossip blog. All we do is judge and care about inconsequential crap.
Ok…back to the matter at hand,
Snooki has actually had the tattoo since mid December but has only showed it to Jionni. (Maybe because she was embarrassed?)
Snooki took to her website to explain the meaning behind the tattoo. She wrote,
‘I haven’t mentioned or showed anyone besides Jionni this tattoo! I got this last week when we shot our final Jersey Shore reunion
‘My fierce leopard tattoo. I wanted to get this because to me it represents being a strong independent woman, and obviously I love leopards/leopard print!
‘The crown represents being a queen and being fabulous, and the wings represent everyone who has passed in my family.’
‘Anytime I can incorporate my loved ones who have passed, I do it!
‘This tattoo also will always remind me of getting it while being in LA shooting our FINAL reunion of Jersey Shore.
‘This tattoo was done by my one and only favorite artist in LA ,Bryce Oprandi, at the The Martlet Tattoo!
‘Every Monday I am going to be showing you one of my tattoos and the story behind it, so make sure you come back to find out about my other 5 tattoos and what I am planning on getting for my 7th!’
The most important thing is that she likes it, then Jionni. At only 4 feet 9 inches tall there is not a lot of real estate on her body and that tattoo took up a nearly half of her arm. For her seventh tattoo she might want to be a little more selective. After Chris Brown’s latest fiasco on his neck, I’m not surprised by any ink jobs celebs are getting now a days

MTV gets Buckwild. New Show Replaces Jersey Shore With Southern Drawl!
I’m guilty. Honestly I was like “WTF” at first but as the extended trailer for Buckwild plays on and on, it actually gets pretty interesting. I think MTV might actually have something here. Their formula for picking talentless nobodies and sticking cameras in their face and paying them very little (at first) looks like it still works.
Buckwild is a show that follows the residents of Sissonville, West Virginia. Yes, home of the redneck. That’s where all those West Virginia jokes are born out of tales everyday life in this town.
They match the Jersey and Long Island accents with Appalachian accents sometimes so thick we need subtitles.
However, there is no glitz and glamour. This is Honey Boo Boo meets the Jersey Shore. Snooki showed every girl that they can be fabulous. These hillbillies show every girl that it’s perfectly ok to be exactly how you are and every guy that brushing your teeth is optional.
In the trailer you can see their high school prom king, Shane proudly saying,
‘I don’t have no phone, Facebook… none of that internet stuff.’
Watching this trailer I’m surprised they have indoor plumbing and running water.
Don’t be fooled, MTV revealed that some of the cast members are college graduates just hanging out before embarking on their real careers. Of course they didn’t’ say what college they graduated from.
Watch the trailer, you won’t want to be like these guys but you might have fun watching. Like the one chick says,
‘Our motto round here is: “Whatever happens, happens.”‘

Revealed: Jersey Shore Cast Members Must Sign an “STD” Clause
It was revealed today to the Daily News that the cast of the Jersey Shore has to sign what is known as a “VD Clause”. It is exactly how it sounds. If any of the cast members catch an STD they cannot hold the MTV producers responsible.
This information came from famed journalist and reality TV expert Seth Kaufman.
Kaufman is promoting his new book that is based on reality TV, in which he references the VD clause in his story.
Kaufman didn’t want us to just take his word for it, he shared the actual clause from the “Jersey Shore”. He said that someone that was close to the show shared the document with him.
In the contract there is a section that is Titled “Health of Other Participants”.
The long and short of it reads,
“Producer hereby informs me, and I acknowledge and accept, that the other participants have not been screened for any diseases, sicknesses or other health conditions (and specifically have not been tested for any sexually transmitted diseases) and I assume all risks of interacting with the other participants, including any consensual contact.”
This was a little different than my understanding. I was under the assumption that everyone was tested before filming. I guess this didn’t prove as effective as making everyone responsible for themselves. That’s how it is in the real world so why not on Reality TV.
MTV has yet to comment on the daily news article.

Last week we learned that Snooki’s cell phone was broken into and nude pictures of the reality star were leaked on the internet. Well apparently that wasn’t all. Along with those photos were some Sonograms of her and Jionni’s soon to be baby. TV Smack Talk has exclusively acquired these from a source close to the person who hacked her phone.

Joan Rivers, Her New Book, and How it’s been Banned from Costco. [video]
Rivers who at age 79 is as outspoken as ever has released a new book entitled, “I Hate Everyone…Starting with Me”. It’s the first comedy book to be banned from Costco. Make no mistake, this is something that Rivers is not only proud of, but probably will end up being better publicity then the store could have given it if it was selling it. Sort of how Dominoes’ indirectly promoting the Jersey Shore by banning their ads from running on MTV after the first episode aired.
Rivers says about the Costco ban,
“We are the first book ever banned from Costco, These are people that sell K-Y jelly by the pound. They banned my book because it’s wild, it’s outrageous, and it’s hilarious. If The New York Times thinks it’s okay, I would rather have them than Costco.”
Another notable in the book is her criticism of how homosexuality and how it’s portrayed in “Glee”. She says,
“I’m sick of seeing happy homosexuals in high school, The gay guys, who I adore, were not running around in high school singing and dancing. They were hiding, frightened they would be beaten to a pulp. Plus, Lea Michelle isn’t in high school — she’s a 37-year-old woman.”

She is right, back in the 1900’s when she was in high school, in the one room school house on the Prairie Gay people were frightened and beaten. The sad part is that some are still today. However shows like Glee make it not only “acceptable” to be Gay but make it not “judgeable” which is more important than being “accepted”. Just like you don’t have the right to judge someone for being a certain ethnicity; you don’t have the right to judge someone for being certain sexuality. Being accepted is step one, and not being a judgeable criteria is step 2 and Glee is helping with both.

Rivers has not slowed down in her old age, she has two shows: E! Fashion Police and the reality show Joan & Melissa as well as talk show appearances and book promotions. She told USA today,
I love my job. I’m one of the lucky ones that got to make a living doing what they like. I’m making people laugh. I’m performing in two shows. I’m not tired. I’m so happy. How lucky did I get? You get to my age and you realize how lucky it is. I’m very aware of it. I live in New York but fly to L.A. for two days every week to tape (Police) and have dinner with Cooper.
