It is with great sadness that the family of Samuel “Sam” Sarpong, Jr. must share the news that Sam has passed away. The circumstances surrounding his death are currently under investigation and no additional details are known at this time.

Apparently, the bridge he jumped off is known as a “suicide bridge” according to a spokesman for the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner. A witness reportedly saw Sarpong jumping off the bridge early Monday afternoon.

For those who don’t know, Sarpong was actually born in London. He made the move to Los Angeles with his father when he was 11-years-old. After becoming a high school basketball star, he enrolled at Valley College but left just one year later to chase his dreams of becoming an actor.

As we mentioned above, he was close with Wilmer Valderrama from their MTV days. Wilmer sent out a statement about his friend’s apparent suicide.

I am so sad and so confused.. Sam did it all, believed in dreaming bigger than anyone around him. We made memories together that will last us forever, thank you for sharing your talent with me and the world. Find your peace my brother! And to everyone in a dark place. PLEASE, please talk to someone…Anyone. My prayers and heart are with family and friends that were blessed to know his beautiful soul.

According to his IMDb page, he just recently filmed a role for the upcoming FX series, American Crime Story. He also recently appeared in a few episodes of Bones.

Our thoughts go out to his family and friends.
